Embodying the Meditative Life

Meditation practice is not something that happens when the stars align, conditions are pristine, and the compulsively thinking mind magically drops away. Like a garden, states of higher awareness are cultivated over time, and bear their fruits in turn. This module will help you tap into the open sky of silent sitting as well as in the walking, eating, stretching, journaling, interacting and so on. In this way, we become more capable of using our practice to come back to our true power when conditions are wonderful and when they are not.

This weekend will include slow and deep asana practice, approached as an exercise in Mindfulness. It will also incorporate many Buddhist-based practices from the Plum Village Tradition of Thich Nhat Hahn, Beth’s primary meditation practice.  Practices will include sitting, walking, and eating meditation, inviting the bell, singing, Dharma Sharing, Noble Silence and Deep Listening. This module will feel very much like a mountain retreat, but we will be right here in town.
